STRANGER Things fans are convinced they've already solved the season 4 twist after its terrifying Netflix trailer.
The trailer for the upcoming series of the hit show was released earlier this month, and fans have been painstakingly going through every shot to see if it offers any extra clues as to what to expect.
One moment reveals a group of children who all resemble a young Eleven with their shaven heads playing with toys in a test facility.
The youngsters are heard greeting the show's evil Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine) in unison, however Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) was still in her room, suggesting she was already rebelling against her captor.
The scene has lead many Stranger Things fans to think the test subjects are the main villains of the season.
They think their aim will be to hunt down Eleven, Kali and any other people who rebelled or simply know too much about what is going on at the lab.
However, another theory based around a teaser trailer posted hours before the main one suggests the children could actually be on Eleven's side.
Titled HNL Control Room, it showed CCTV screens in the lab where the children appeared to have staged a bloodied breakout.
But some fans interpreted the clip as potentially being a new lab with new subjects who are getting ready to terrorise Hawkins.
A previous season four trailer released in February 2020 confirmed that Chief Hopper (David Harbour) is alive - though battered, bruised and being held captive in a prison camp in Russia.
The show's creators, the Duffer brothers said of the return: "Although it’s not all good news for our American; he is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, where he will face dangers both human...and others."
They added: "Season 4 is shaping up to be the biggest and most frightening season yet, and we cannot wait for everyone to see more. In the meantime, pray for the American."
Stranger Things season four is expected to be released in early 2022, seasons 1-3 are available on Netflix now.
