Is The Sons Of Sam based on a true story?

The Sons Of Sam is a Netflix documentary series that covers the true story of murderer David Berkowitz.

Who were The Sons of Sam?

There was only one Son of Sam - David Berkowitz - but there is speculation there are more, and he wasn't working alone, hence the name of the documentary being The Sons Of Sam.

He has been incarcerated since his arrest and is serving six consecutive life sentences in jail.

During the mid-1990s, he amended his confession to claim that he had been a member of a violent Satanic cult that orchestrated the incidents as ritual murder.

A few law enforcement authorities have said that his claims might be credible, but he remains the only person ever charged with the shootings.

A new investigation of the murders began in 1996, but was suspended indefinitely after inconclusive findings.

How's Maury Terry's book The Ultimate Evil related to The Sons Of Sam?

The documentary is based on Maury Terry's book and is focused on his findings.

It examines whether David Berkowitz was killing by himself, or whether he had accomplices.

The book synopsis is: "A terrifying investigation into one of America's most dangerous satanic cults, an extraordinary expose that presents new evidence linking Charles Manson and the Son of Sam to the cult network. 20 black-and-white photographs."
