How much money was raised for Comic Relief 2023?

An incredible amount of £31,952,141 was raised during Red Nose Day 2023 on March 17 for Comic Relief.

The money raised will help support people struggling with the cost of living crisis and tackle issues such as homelessness, mental health, and food poverty in the UK and around the world.

It will also help organisations support people facing a devastating hunger crisis across East Africa, and those affected by the heart-breaking earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

Who was in the Comic Relief 2023 line up?

This year's event was hosted by Joel Dommett, AJ Odudu, Paddy McGuinness, David Tennant and Zoe Ball.

It was also the first time Sir Lenny Henry, who helped found the event back in 1985 alongside film director Richard Curtis, wasn't there.

The night saw a star-studded cast featuring in a number sketches and live performances in a bid to raise money for the cause.

Claudia Winkleman, Dame Mary Berry, Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders gathered around The Traitors Round Table for the ultimate game of deception.

Hidden underneath the cloaks, was a number of famous faces, including Ewan McGregor,  Alison Hammond, Big Zuu, Rosie Jones, Danny Dyer, Anne Robinson, Stephen Merchant.

Maddy and Wilf from the show itself were also on hand to banish the true Traitor.

Other notable names included:

  • Musical performances by global superstars Zara Larsson and Tom Grennan.
  • Sketches from Love Island.
  • A special edition of the BBC comedy series Ghost, with Kylie Minogue making a one-off appearance amongst the cast.
  • Prince William, Rosie Jones, Sir Lenny Henry, and Sir Mo Farah all helped to shine a light on how donations can make a difference.
  • Viewers also saw Dermot O’Leary take a trip to Michael & Eagle Lettings to visit Jamie Demetriou's ‘Stath’ from Stath Lets Flats with X Factor’s Honey G, Stevi Ritchie, Ben Haenow and Andy Abrahams.
  • One of the nation’s most beloved comedy characters – Baldrick – also returned in his very own ‘Blackadder’ Bedtime Story.
