KATE Garraway has shared emotional unseen footage from her wedding to Derek Draper in her heartbreaking new documentary.
The 53-year-old star is approaching the grim one-year anniversary of her husband being rushed to hospital with coronavirus.
He has remained in intensive care ever since, and is the UK's longest-surviving Covid-19 patient.
Kate's heartache will be explored in upcoming ITV documentary Finding Derek, with the first trailer for the programme airing yesterday.
In the brief teaser, Derek can be seen laying in his hospital bed - with previously unseen footage from their wedding day also playing out.
The TV presenter is shown in her bridal gown, tenderly reaching across to caress her groom's cheek while he appears to deliver a speech.
A second snippet shows the pair tenderly kissing while they dance together, with love evident in Kate's eyes as she gazes adoringly up at her husband.
The pair married in 2005 and share two children, 15-year-old Darcey and 11-year-old Billy.
In the trailer, Kate explains: "Derek is the sickest person the team of doctors have treated that's lived.
"Is he going to be able to come back or will he be alive but no longer the person he was?"
After contracting the virus more than a year ago, Derek faced an uphill battle to survive.
Coronavirus ravaged his body, his kidneys failed, he has liver and pancreas damage and his heart has stopped more than once.
Countless infections have left holes in his lungs and the battle has seen him lose eight stone.
However Kate said that doctors still can’t tell her whether Derek will recover - and they have warned her he may remain “locked in” for good.
“The very worst moment was when they said he could be locked in for ever," she told .
"And I just thought, this is a horror story. I don’t know if he’ll ever have any kind of life again. We just don’t know."
The star also told how in the early months a hospital mistake saw her told her "may have died" - and she faced an agonising 24 hour wait to discover the truth.
Kate said: "I was just sitting on the phone, waiting to know if he’d died or not."
