Dancing On Ice fans say show will be cancelled before it returns as it’s axed for a week after Covid and injury chaos

DANCING On Ice fans are not confident the show will return at all after the show postpones its upcoming live show amid ongoing chaos.

ITV bosses axed this week's Dancing On Ice after they were left unable to fill the show due to injuries, but the injuries keep piling up with pro-skater Hamish Gaman the latest casualty after he snapped the tendon in his hand.

Producers took the decision to give all the celebrities and their professional partners a week's break to allow everyone the chance to recover.

Jason Donovan, 52, missed Sunday's show because of a back injury - and at least two other celebrities are nursing minor niggles.

It comes a day after The Sun revealed how the series was on thin ice due a spare of injuries and COVID-19 related drop-outs.

The series will return on Sunday, February 28 after the enforced hiatus

Calling it now that will be cancelled before it’s next show on the 28th.

But fans are not convinced the figure skating competition will come back at all after the freshly announced hiatus, saying "reckon it will be cancelled, rather than back on 28th."

"I get the feeling #DancingOnIce will be back for one show after the break, then cancelled for the time being," wrote one Twitter user.

Another added: "I think @dancingonice should just give up with this series. It’s been difficult with this pandemic. It hasn’t been the best series and it’s unfair to the celebs and fans. Just come back bigger and better in 2022. #DancingOnIce."

Jason missed Sunday night's show after being unable to rehearse his routine due to back pain, but will be forced to quit for good if he cannot get fit by the time the show returns.

If he quits it will mean that five famous faces have withdrawn this series alone, with no more back-ups available to call upon.

To make matters worse for beleaguered producers on the skating show, at least two other stars are nursing injuries.

Rapper Lady Leshurr, 32, has complained about pain in her leg, while Rebekah Vardy, 38, has a groin strain.

The latest withdrawal comes after show favourite Joe-Warren Plant and partner Vanessa Bauer were forced to quit on Friday after they both tested positive for coronavirus.

Before that, West End star Denise Van Outen had to withdraw due to a broken shoulder.

Towie’s Billie Shepherd quit after a heavy fall on the ice, and Rufus Hound was booted after also testing positive for coronavirus for a second time.

Coronation Street actress Faye Brookes, 33, is now the bookies favourite to triumph.

Pro-skater Hamish, revealed he performed on Sunday with the injury, risking carrying it around for life.

Luckily, Hamish - who is partnered with Faye Brookes - said he will be returning to Dancing On Ice after the week hiatus with just a splint.

Speaking to Heat Radio, he said: "Faye wasn't fully aware but I snapped a tendon in my hand and I was advised before the show that I'm putting my finger at risk for the rest of my life here.

"It's one of those scenarios where there was a lot of people dropping out of the show and I love this show so much and I didn't want to let the team down."
