LONG Lost Family viewers will see a man reunited with his sister 50 years after their mum was forced to give him up as a newborn in order to keep her baby daughter.
Dave Ashton features in next Monday's episode and discovers his heartbreaking past.
reports how the 54-year-old was put up for adoption in 1966 when his mum Janet Saunders was given a horrific choice by her mum: give away Dave or risk losing both him and her 18-month-old daughter Nicki Goscomb.
The siblings were reunited last year and their bond was immediate.
Dad-of-two Dave said: "Within a split second of meeting each other, once we got over the initial shock, it was like we had always known each other. All these little things were coming out.”
Nicki said: “Mum was 16 when she got pregnant. She was a child, she made a mistake. She fell in love with our dad who was married and wasn’t able to be with him. She was told she brought shame on the family."

Janet went on to have two more daughters, Becky and Katherine, who she was able to keep as she no longer lived with her mum.
Sadly Janet died in a car accident 15 years ago, and as a result was never able to tell her son the truth.
Dave grew emotional hearing how his mum had fought to keep him after the cruel ultimatum that she'd been faced with.
Nicki said: “Nobody should ever have to choose. My brother was six weeks old and he was sacrificed so I could stay. It does make me feel guilty and sad. I was kept with Mum and he was given away.”
Long Lost Family continues on Monday at 9pm on ITV.
