HOLLYOAKS’ Mercedes McQueen has a terrifying face off with killer Silas and Ella is blackmailed in an explosive new trailer.

The Channel 4 soap is kicking the New Year off with a bang, returning to five nights a week and bringing plenty of drama.

One of the biggest storylines is Mercedes McQueen being confronted by serial killer Silas Blissett, who is responsible for numerous deaths in the village.

After Mercedes finds him with her son, he tells her: "Decision time, live or die!"

But she screams: "Go to hell!!"

When the trailer comes back to them moments later, Silas is seen telling her in true sinister fashion as she sobs: "My final girl, saving the best til last."

Elsewhere, Ella is also in tears as Victor tells her: "You will do everything I say."

But Sid Sumner tells him: "I can make you 10 times more profits than she can, let me do this."

As the county lines storyline continues, Victor tells Sid: "Get in the boot," before he is seen being driven away crammed in the back of the car.

Another major storyline in the trailer is the affair between Sienna Blake and Warren Fox.

Early in the trailer, Brody Hudson is seen proposing to Sienna, unaware that her ex is sniffing round.

She is seen telling Warren: "You need to back off, ruining people's lives might be your idea of foreplay Warren but it is not mine.

"You were just a blip, me and Brody, we're forever."

However, things are complicated further by Cormac's daughter Summer, who sets her sights on Brody.

Sienna tells her: "I don't like people playing with my things."

But she replies: "I really threaten you don't I?"

As Brody is seen kissing Summer, Sienna is heard saying: "I know girls like you, crying yourself to sleep over things you'll never have."

But Summer, who catches Sienna and Warren kissing and films it on her phone replies: "I'm not the one keeping secrets, am I?"

Elsewhere, Maxine Minniver gets a shock when her mum - played by Denise Welch - arrives and Martine Deveraux is on the receiving end of Toby's built up anger and hurt.

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and first look episodes are at 7pm on E4.
