THE BIG Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco has insisted it was a 'blessing in disguise' when Jim Parsons pulled the plug on the hit sitcom.

The actress starred alongside Parsons on the long-running comedy show for 12 years before its final airing in 2019.

She played the bubbly Penny, while Parsons was the highly intelligent Sheldon Cooper, whose lack of social skills was always a focus for laughs.

Kaley, 35, made the statement during an appearance on Tuesday night’s Watch What Happens: Live with Andy Cohen.

She was asked by a fan: "Were you disappointed when Jim Parsons' decision to leave the show ended The Big Bang Theory, when it could have gone on and on for many more years?"

To which she replied: "No, I think that is what he felt he needed at the time.

"And I think actually, I don’t know if my life would have taken this path if we hadn’t have ended when we did.

"So maybe it was a blessing in disguise."

The star is currently receiving rave reviews for her HBO Max offering, The Flight Attendant.

She plays the lead in the adaptation based on the popular book by Chris Bohjalian.

Cuoco portrays Cassie Bowden, an air hostess with an alcohol problem who wakes up in a Bangkok hotel room with a dead body next to her.

During its time The Big Bang Theory was hugely successful show and racked up 52 Emmy nominations, converting ten into wins.

When the final season was announced Parsons, 47, shared a photo of the cast from season one, and wrote: "I am so terribly grateful for the cast in this picture and the cast members who aren't pictured here - whether they were in one scene or many episodes along the way.

"You are all my playmates that I have fallen in love with and who have become a part of my life on set and off."

Regular cast members also included Johnny Galecki, Mayim Bialik, Melissa Rauch, Kunal Nayyar and Simon Helberg.
