BBC announces star-studded Cinderella with The Crown’s Olivia Colman and Helena Bonham-Carter fronting TV panto
THE Crown's Olivia Colman and Helena Bonham-Carter will star in the BBC's celeb-packed Cinderella TV panto, it was announced today.
Cinderella: A Comic Relief Pantomime for Christmas is a retelling of the classic story written by comedy creators the Dawson Brothers.
The public will have the opportunity to donate to Comic Relief while watching the all-star cast put on the production.
The Crown's Olivia Colman is making her panto debut as the Fairy Godmother, while Helena Bonham-Carter is playing Lady Devilia.
Hot off Netflix hit The Queen's Gambit, Anya Taylor-Joy is playing Cinderella alongside Roots' Rege-Jean Page as Prince Charming.
Four Weddings and a Funeral's Guz Khan will be taking on the iconic Buttons role, while Us's Tom Hollander will be Baron Hardup.
This Country's real life brother-sister pairing Daisy May and Charlie Cooper will be playing The Evil Step Sisters.
Bosses have also promised surprises and cameos - including a famous person wearing an "unconvincing horse costume".
As well as the performances, legendary artist Quentin Blake - known for his Roald Dahl illustrations - will be bringing the show to life with hand-drawn illustrations.
Patrick Holland, Controller of BBC Two said: “This is a unique surprise at the end of a year when we all need cheering up. Thank you so much to Richard Curtis and the team at Comic Relief for assembling such a stellar cast to deliver us a pantomime to remember.”

Cinderella: A Comic Relief Pantomime for Christmas will be broadcast on BBC Two on Thursday 24 December at 8.15pm and will also be available on BBC iPlayer.
