But we can reveal that despite being told it had a gauge that must hit 200 before it can produce hot water, it is actually operated by producers.

A source said: "It doesn't matter how long they pump for, the bosses could turn it on or off in seconds at the flick of a switch."

The Geordie duo, who returned to screens earlier this month, opened up about the chilling temperatures on today's The Daily Drop.

Speaking to host Vick Hope, Ant, 45, admitted: "We’ve spoken to them down at trials and we said, ‘Is it cold in there?’ and they said it’s that cold that you never, ever get warm.

"Even at night, it’s in your bones. You know when you’ve been out all day walking and you’re cold and it’s in your bones, it’s like that – day in, day out."

Dec added: "They’ve got a warm shower that they have to pump themselves, and keep the fire going to keep it warm.

"But they said even when they have a warm shower, you immediately get cold again, you can never quite warm up.

"So I think that has been the hardest thing for them, just the cold."

The ITV show moved from the Aussie jungle to Gwrych Castle due to Covid.

But while the celebrities are enduring stormy and spooky nights, the presenting duo are rumoured to be staying at Bodysgallen Hall near Llandudno.

Bodysgallen is a luxury country house hotel set on Pydew Mountain.

It boasts a three AA Rosette restaurant and a luxurious spa.

As well as the hotel, the grounds have 16 cottage suites which have "added privacy" and their own separate garden.

Importantly, the hotel is located 12 miles from Gwrych Castle - making it a quick drive to set.

However,  that Ant has been spotted walking his dogs along the beach at Penmaenmawr.

Earlier this week, the pair were left delighted after hosting the "funniest Bucktucker Trial they've ever had in 20 years".

Jessica Plummer and Shane Richie had been chosen by the public to take on Sickening Stalls - leaving Ant and Dec in hysterics.
