Norman will be launching his own version of the 1986 classic with the help from Robert Schwartzman, Stephen Trask and Shout! Studios.

The slasher film, which was originally directed by Carol Frank, follows the story of a group of people who live in an area where people start getting killed off one by one.

Speaking about his new venture, the Daryl Dixon actor said: "I could not be more excited to collaborate with Robert and his incredible team at Utopia on this project.

"Their taste and creative vision are inspiring, and exactly in line with the kind of content that [Reedus' production banner] bigbaldhead set out to develop.

"We are thrilled to revisit this cult classic and create something truly unique."

The news comes after fans of The Walking Dead were left devastated in September when it was announced that the show will air their final series in two years time.

AMC revealed that the beloved show would end with a supersized 24-episode series to be aired over the span of the next two years - with 12 in 2021, and the rest in 2022.
