EastEnders’ Ian Beale is shown returning to the soap as he visits Dennis’s grave in emotional scenes
EASTENDERS' Ian Beale is shown returning to the soap as he visits Dennis Rickman's grave in emotional scenes.
The soap legend - who is played by Adam Woodyatt - has been off screen for two months but will return to pay his respects to Dennis whose death he caused in the tragic Thames boat accident in February.
Ian was due to take some time away from the Square this year as part of the huge storyline, though soap bosses are yet to confirm how it will end.
No doubt Ian's lies will come back to haunt him, but he's seen visiting Dennis grave with Sharon in photos of actors Adam and Letitia Dean filming on location.
Phil Mitchell, played by Steve McFadden, arrives and brings flowers to the graveside.
The phoots confirm Ian is back in Walford after battling money issues and guilt after he locked Dennis in a room on the sinking boat.
A grief-stricken Sharon bravely visits her son's grave, where a fresh gravestone reads 'beloved son taken too soon'.
However an argument starts and Ian drives off, leaving Sharon on her own.
A little later Dennis' stepfather Phil turns up holding flowers and places them on Denny's grave.
Speaking about the soap returning following the coronavirus pandemic, Executive Producer Jon Sen teased: "From the moment we turned the lights out in The Queen Vic our ambition was to come back with a bang and this autumn certainly does that.
"As soon as Albert Square reawakens the drama returns at a pace and, although working within social distancing guidelines has certainly given us some new challenges, I am incredibly proud of what everyone has achieved. The show is looking fantastic and we can’t wait for 'series two' to begin."
Fans have predicted a huge revenge twist which could see Dotty reveal Ian's secret after she blackmailed him for months.
One wrote on Twitter: "Potential Ian Beale attackers," before listing a string of names.
A third said: "I can't wait... Ian caught out, Sharon kicks ass, Dotty gets revenge."
"There are no guarantees and anything can happen in Albert Square."
