Netflix’s previous hit, The Stranger, also starred Richard and was based on the novel by Harlan Coben.
And now the streaming platform is set to adapt another of the author’s books, Stay Close, that centres around three characters all who are living lives they never wanted and hiding secrets from their loved ones.
Announcing the news on Twitter, Netflix’s official Twitter account wrote: “Fans of The Stranger and Safe, rejoice!
“The next Netflix show based on @HarlanCoben’s books will be STAY CLOSE – starring Cush Jumbo, Richard Armitage, James Nesbitt and Sarah Parish.”
It added: “Everything crossed for more insane twists and farm animals named after boybands.”
The eight-part series follows the three characters Megan (Cush) is a suburban mother-of-three, Ray (Richard) hates his job, and Broome (James) is a detective who is obsessed with solving a cold case.

Cold Feet star James said: “I can’t wait to return to Manchester to work with Nicola, Danny, Harlan and the team again. I love Harlan’s style and this plot and character will be brilliantly challenging.
“At a time when we have remained apart, Stay Close promises to break all the rules.”
Based on the book of the same name, Stay Close highlights the shadows that can creep into even the happiest communities.
While Stay Close is yet to have a release date, The Stranger is available to stream on Netflix.
