Who is Bake Off's Mark?

Mark Lutton, by day, is a project manager from Liverpool.

He lives there with his wife, Laura.

After having some recipes under his belt when he first took up baking, he began making multi-tiered wedding cakes - and he proved he was good at centrepiece showstoppers with his tiered white choc cake in week four.

His heritage is Irish, and he likes to bring traditional Irish flavours into his bakes.

Mark's job involves travel to Africa and Asia, so he's often experimenting with flavours he's discovered while in those two continents.

He's admitted that timing is his weak point, telling Channel 4 that he could happily spend days baking as a way to de-stress.

How old is he?

Mark is 32 years old.

His love affair with baking began as a student when he started visiting a pie shop in Edinburgh for mac'n'cheese pie.

He then decided to try his hand at cake baking, first perfecting a lemon drizzle.

His bakes can be seen on Instagram .

What has he said about the show?

The project manager was thrilled to find out he was going to be a part of this year's Bake Off series.

He said: "It felt like a very long wait, from finding out I was one of the 12 bakers to the moment when I first walked into the tent.

"Honestly, I didn’t think it was going to happen! I was filled with nerves and excitement in the lead up.

"I remember seeing the tent on that first morning and it actually felt quite overwhelming.

"After all this time waiting and getting to walk into the famous Bake Off tent – it felt like a dream."

Mark has also been excited to meet the other bakers, hoping to make friends out them.
