One fan commented: "Yay I love you, little Peacock. I am gonna watch Saved By The Bell!"

As the short teaser shows, it's set to drop the day before Thanksgiving on 25th November.

The revival is being penned by The Mindy Project's Tracey Wigfield and will find California governor Zack in hot water for closing too many low-income high schools.

He sends the affected students to the highest-performing schools in the state — including Bayside High — and "gives the over-privileged Bayside kids a much-needed and hilarious dose of reality".

NBC Universal confirmed the series will be returning with original cast members Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley back in their roles as AC Slater and Jessie.

Fans will also see how teenage sweethearts Jessie and Slater's lives have intertwined once more.

But according to reports, Zack's love interest Kelly (Tiffani Thiessen) is missing from the line-up as is Screech star Dustin Diamond.

Saved By The Bell originally aired from 1989 until 1993 and was told from a teen's point of view, examining the highs and lows of six enterprising teenage students, including their romances and relationships.

It also starred Dustin Diamond, Lark Voorhies and Dennis Haskins as the school's principal.

Now, transgender actress Josie Totah has been cast in the lead role of the rebooted show, which will air on the Peacock streaming service.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Josie - who will also be a producer on the show - will play Lexi, "a beautiful, sharp-tongued cheerleader and the most popular girl at Bayside High who is both admired and feared by her fellow students".

Due to the coronavirus pandemic halting the majority of TV and film production, the premiere for the new Saved By The Bell was pushed back.

The launch was originally set for July, but COVID-19 caused major delays to the long awaited return.
