WAYNE Bridge has pulled out of Dancing on Ice in 2021 at the eleventh hour, The Sun can exclusively reveal.
Earlier this month, we revealed that the former footballer, 40, was joining the ITV series after he had impressed telly bosses with his TikTok moves in lockdown.
Despite making it through to the final stages of talks and appearing keen to join the 2021 celebrity line-up, The Sun understands Wayne is no longer taking part, days before training begins.
A source told us: "Wayne had several meetings with bosses but suddenly he was no longer taking part.
"Dancing On Ice audition a lot of stars - sometimes people don't get through if they're not very good skaters but Wayne was really impressive - he was expected to sign the contract and then disappeared from the lineup, it's all a bit of a mystery!"
Wayne's rep did not return a request for comment when approached by The Sun.
So far Towie's Billie Faiers, Coronation Street's Faye Brookes, WAG Rebekah Vardy, Neighbours heartthrob Jason Donovan and actress Denise Van Outen have signed up to the series when it returns in January.
Other stars that are set to take to the ice include Myleene Klass, former Olympic skier Graham Bell, athlete Colin Jackson, Emmerdale's Joe Warren-Plant and Capital DJ Sonny Jay.
Earlier this month, we revealed that Wayne's moves on TikTok had impressed show bosses and was approached for the upcoming installment.
Show insiders told The Sun at the time: "Wayne amused fans in lockdown with his TikTok moves, now they'll get to see how entertaining he is on the ice."
Ex-Chelsea ace Wayne hit over 8.3million views when he was roped in by popstar wife Frankie to make videos of them dancing to tracks like The Weeknd’s Blinding Light in lockdown.
Speaking about his dance skills on TikTok Frankie told The Sun: "At first, Wayne wasn’t really that fussed, but now he tries to decide all artistic directions.
"He enjoys dancing and he feels like he’s got the moves, so he’s in his element.

"Everyone quite enjoys them, and it’s something you wouldn’t expect Wayne to do so it’s something different."
Wayne wed The Saturdays singer Frankie Sandford in 2014 and share two children together, Parker, six, and Carter, five.
Frankie is no stranger to reality TV having finished runner-up on Strictly Come Dancing in 2014.
