EastEnders Lacey Turner wants to ‘do a Dot Cotton’ and stay on soap until she’s 90 as she promises to return after baby
Eastenders star Lacey Turner has said she would love to continue on the popular soap until she is 90 years old.
The actress has played the role of Stacey Slater since 2004, taking only a short break from 2010-2014.
At 32 years old, Lacey first joined the BBC show aged 16 and is in her twelfth year of playing the once-troublesome teenager.
She has announced she’d like to stay as long as June Brown - who played the iconic Dot Cotton for 35 years.
The actress told OK! “I’d love to stay there until I’m 90! I just love working there and I love my character.
"Plus, I manage to have a good work/life balance as we only live down the road from the studio, so I’m usually home for [daughter] Dusty’s bath and bed."
Hours earlier, Lacey revealed her miracle baby joy, announcing a second pregnancy with husband Matt Kay, after two miscarriages.
The soap star is 16 weeks pregnant and suffered the heartbreaking miscarriages before giving birth to her first child Dusty in 2019.
Earlier in the year, the actress confessed to ‘ignoring’ her first pregnancy initially, for fear of miscarrying again.
Eastenders returned to TV screens on Monday 7 September and with it came the return of Stacey Slater, following Lacey’s year-long maternity leave.
Fans of the feisty soap character might not want to rejoice just yet as producers are planning another temporary exit for the star at the end of the year.
The Daily Star reported that Lacey won’t be on screens for long, with a source saying: "Lacey will be taking a break. The top bosses agreed to give her some time off from the show.
