Coronation Street filming disrupted after actor tests positive for coronavirus

CORONATION Street filming was disrupted after an actor tested positive for the coronavirus.

The ITV soap was forced to change its filming schedule and organise a deep clean of the building where the actor had been to ensure safety.

But the soap’s stringent rules on social distancing meant no other cast or crew member came into contact with the actor.

A spokeswoman for ITV soap told The Sun Online: "We can confirm a member of the Coronation Street team has tested positive for coronavirus. 

"The protocols we have in place for such an eventuality have been implemented and the individual is now self isolating at home. 

"Although we do not believe anyone has been within 2m of the individual, as a precaution, the production team who were working with the individual have been notified. 

 

"In keeping with health and safety guidance, we have also undertaken an intensive clean of touch points in the cohort area where the individual was working and areas of the building they visited. 

"We believe the situation has been contained and filming continued on Monday."

first reported no other members of cast and crew came within two meters of the actor but that all members of staff who worked with them had been notified.

Coronation Street bosses implemented a wide array of measures when it returned to filming last month including requiring everyone to remain two metres apart at all times.

The measures meant the situation could be quickly dealt with while filming schedules were adjusted to minimise the impact on the production.

The Sun Online understands that due to the measures filming was only disrupted last week and everything was back to normal by Monday.
