The Umbrella Academy’s Ellen Page reveals explosive finale had to be completely rewritten after freak snowstorm
THE Umbrella Academy's Ellen Page says the explosive finale had to be written after a freak snowstorm occurred on set.
The episode sees the Hargreeves siblings team up for the final time as they try and battle it out with newcomer Lila (Ritu Arya) after they find out who she really is.

After a fight occurred between Lila and Number Five (Aidan Gallagher) and Ellen's character Vanya, the former absorbed all Vanya's powers in the middle of the snowstorm.
The episode was shot in Vancouver, Canada in November, a time where the city rarely sees snowstorms.
But according to Ellen, 33, the crazy weather was written into the script after it took place in real life.
Netflix released a behind-the-scenes video in which Ellen explained: "Some of the thoughts when it first snowed were definitely, 'How are we going to do this?'"
"We got a lot of snow early, climate crisis, so that’s happening, a lot of the scenes had to be readjusted. The weather had taken a turn and now all of a sudden there is a blanket of snow.
"[Showrunner] Steve Blackman just said that if the snow didn’t melt then the snow would be written into the script."
The drama had the ideal reason to include the snow, as Vanya has the ability to control the weather, therefore it makes sense that it would just begin to snow out of the blue.

Ellen added: "Because we’ve established that the powers that Harlan has, which are obviously the powers that Vanya has and Vanya had a lot of influence over the weather in the first season.
"And now Harlan in this really, really wild state is causing snow to fall."
Rita, who was also the episode director, welcomed the change and believes it optimises what the show is all about.
