Who are the Great British Bake Off 2020 contestants?
THE Great British Bake Off contestants have been showing off their skills in the famous white tent, but one by one the judges are voting them off.
There are now only three bakers left heading to the Bake Off 2020 final.
Who are the Bake Off 2020 contestants?
Peter
Inspired by Bake Off, 20-year-old Peter started baking at the age of 12.
The Edinburgh lad honours his Scots heritage by including berries, whisky, oats and honey in his bakes.
Peter, who is an Accounting & Finance Student, said he’s great at time management and planning, however, he is not the best at "artistic decoration and bread baking”.
He won Star Baker in week one and again in the semi-finals.
Dave
The series 11 bakers will feel in safe hands with Hampshire lad Dave, 30.
He's an armoured guard who admitted he only learned how to cook when he moved out of his mum's house.
Dave said he's now fulfilled a "life long dream" by meeting his celebrity hero and Bake Off host Noel Fielding.
And he fulfilled another dream in week two by winning Star Baker.
His strengths are bread and mirror glazes, but it was actually in biscuit week that he won Star Baker.
Dave lives with his girlfriend in Hampshire and also loves cars and DIY.
Laura
Laura, 31, is a digital manager from Gravesend who has a passion for baking.
She says she loves to put modern twists on classics and thrives under pressure.
Laura specialises in decoration and is proud to have mastered piped buttercream flowers.
Laura scooped Star Baker in pastry week.
Who has left Bake Off 2020?
Hermine
Accountant Hermine, 39, moved to London from Benin, West Africa, in 2001 to pursue further education.
Her French influences have given her a love of patisserie, but to the shock of many fans Patisserie Week turned out to be her downfall and she left in the semi-final.
Hermine, who has a nine-year-old son, said she is good with flavours but admitted: “My weakness is the ability to get a clean, neat finish under time pressure.”
Hermine was named Star Baker in 80s Week and Dessert Week.
Marc
Cornwall sculptor and support worker Marc, 51, is a single parent to two inspiring daughters who convinced him to take up his favourite hobby climbing again despite him losing his leg.
Personal tragedy, including losing his leg in a motorbike accident in 2016, led him to baking bread as a form of therapy, and from there he came to baking cakes and pastries.
He said about entering the show: "Being surrounded by 11 other great people, all in the competition with me, I just remember feeling a very positive and exciting energy in the tent."
Marc bagged Star Baker in the third show, bread week but was eliminated in Week Eight after failing to impress.
Lottie - out week seven
Lottie - who lives with her aunt and uncle - believes baking is in her blood thanks to her Lancastrian great-grandmother.
Since the show started she has become an instant fan favourite and is being tipped to win.
The bubbly brunette has said as a child she preferred making notes from cookery books to playing with toys.
Panto boss Lottie, from West Sussex, said that all the bakers bonded straight away thanks to the unusual circumstances.
The 32-year-old said: "As a group we got really close really quickly because we were all living together and that made it feel extra special."
Lottie won Star Baker in week six, Japanese.
Unfortunately she quite literally had a meltdown when her ice cream cake was a disaster in week seven and she was voted off by the judges.
Mark - out week six
Project manager Mark, 31, said his baking style is influenced by his Irish heritage.
But he revealed he is drawn to the flavours of Africa and Asia, where he travels regularly for his work with public health research programmes.
Mark, who lives with his wife in Liverpool, revealed he struggles with timekeeping and said: “At home I spend hours (and sometimes days) baking something as a way of de-stressing.”
He won Star Baker in Chocolate Week but meant he wouldn't win due to the show's curse that the baker who bags the accolade in week four has no chance of being victorious.
And unfortunately the curse struck in week six and he was eliminated.
Linda - out week five
Linda, 61, hails from East Sussex and is a retirement living team leader.
She said she enjoyed childhood visits to her aunt’s dairy farm, where she learned to bake cakes topped with rich, creamy icing.
Her strength is home-comfort cooking, particularly her signature sausage rolls.
Talking about being on Bake Off, Linda said: “It’s never too late to chase your dreams.”
Sura - out week four
Pharmacy worker Sura, 31, from London loves nothing better than whipping up some delicious cakes and breads.
Before going on the show she confessed that Prue was a huge inspiration for her taking up baking.
But sadly chocolate week was a disaster for her and she left during the fourth episode.
Rowan - out week three
Rowan is a 55-year-old music teacher who hails from Worcestershire.
He loves 18th-century Georgian recipes and enjoys decorating his bakes with edible flowers from his garden.
He said: “My weakness is over-ambition and no interest in timings.”
Sadly it wasn't meant to be and he left in week three
Mak - out week two
Self-taught baker Makbul, 51, can measure out ingredients just by eye and says his strengths lie in pastry.
His three grown-up children are his harshest baking critics.
The Manchester accountant, who has recently taken up bee-keeping, said he is not daunted by much but admitted: “My biggest weakness is the mess I create!”
Makbul was given the boot after being unable to impress the judges for biscuit week.
Loriea - out week one
Radiographer Loriea, 27, moved to the UK when she was 15 years old.
However, she said she began baking at the age of five with her grandmother in Jamaica.
The Durham hospital worker said: “My weakness lies in my inability to follow a recipe without having to put my own twist in.”
Loriea was sent home after failing to impress the judges for cake week on day one.
