Gavin and Stacey’s Ruth Jones warns fans they face agonising 10-year wait for series 4
GAVIN and Stacey's Ruth Jones has warned fans they face an agonising 10-year wait for series four.
The BBC comedy returned last Christmas for the first time in a decade for a festive special, which was lapped up by fans and proved to be one of the most watched things on TV over the Christmas period.
The episode ended on a major cliffhanger, with Ruth's character Nessa proposing to Smithy - played by James Corden- only for the credits to role before he could answer.
Now Ruth, 53, has revealed fans could be waiting another decade to find out whether he said yes, telling Roman Kemp's Capital Breakfast show: "Who knows? It took us 10 years to come back.
"It might take us another 10 if we come back."
Earlier this week, Ruth explained how it would be difficult for her and James, 42, to write together even if they did have an idea for another episode or series.
She told Lorraine Kelly: "It’s lovely that people ask me, and people always prefix it as they always apologise.
"I wish I could say yes but the truth is, as it’s always been the case, James and I love to write together in the same room and that’s just not possible at the moment as he’s in America and I’m in the UK.
"So, there aren’t any plans at the moment but who knows!"
Ruth also discussed why people love her alter ego on the show, saying: "I think the reason why people love her and the reason why I love her is because she does not care what other people think at all.
