Prequel series Power Book III: Raising Kanan is also in the works and now the network has confirmed its third spin-off, with actor Joseph Sikora reprising his role as Tommy.

Power Book IV: Force will follow Tommy as he cuts his ties with New York following the murder of James 'Ghost' St. Patrick in the original series.

Tommy will put the Big Apple in the rearview mirror for good as he heads to LA for a new life.

The series was originally titled Power Book V: Force, but it will now premiere after prequel series Book III.

Starz President of Programming Christina Davis told Deadline: "Power has been one of the most successful series in premium pay television during its six-year run, garnering more than 10 million multiplatform views in its last two seasons and we can’t wait to take fans in a whole new direction as we pick-up Tommy’s story with Power Book IV: Force."

Meanwhile Power Book II: Ghost will premiere on the network on Sunday, September 6 in the US, with its first season being split into two parts consisting of five episodes each.

It will follow Ghost's wife Tasha (Naturi Naughton) and son Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr) in the aftermath of him shooting his father dead.

Mary J Blige will make her show debut in the upcoming episodes as new character Monet, and Naturi recently revealed Tasha and Monet will clash spectacularly.

She told Digital Spy: "You know, it's really beautiful because I think we often don't get to see that as much, and I think the way that Monet is written, people really enjoy, she's a really good character and Mary J is iconic – so it's an honour to have this beautiful iconic female come into power and literally just kill it," she went on.

She concluded: "However, our paths may cross. And when they do. We will not be buddy buddy, not at first."

Rapper Method Man has also joined the cast as fast-talking lawyer Davis MacLean.

Power Book II: Ghost premieres at 9 PM ET/PT on Sunday, September 6 on Starz before moving to its regular timeslot at 8 PM on Starz in the U.S. and Canada.
