Why was Jenelle Evans fired from Teen Mom?
TV personality Jenelle Evans rose to prominence when she was cast in the hit reality series 16 and Pregnant and the Teen Mom franchise.
On May 8, 2024, MTV dropped a new trailer for the upcoming season of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, featuring Jenelle Evans making her grand return to the network five years after her departure.
Who is Teen Mom star Jenelle Evans?
Jenelle Evans first hit screens on MTV's 16 and Pregnant and then achieved popularity when she became a key cast member of both Teen Mom and Teen Mom 2.
The reality TV star, born on December 19, 1991, hails from Oaks Island, North Carolina.
She has garnered over 3 million followers on Instagram.
Jenelle has faced plenty of controversies in her off-screen life, including refusing to wear a mask inside a Walmart during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic and allegedly using a racial slur in a TikTok video.
Why was Jenelle Evans fired from Teen Mom?
Jenelle was fired in April 2019 after her husband, David Eason, shot and killed their family dog.
He claimed that the dog tried to bite the couple's three-year-old daughter Ensley in the face, forcing him to put it down.
Their daughter, Ensley, was two at the time.
The controversial pair have claimed in a YouTube video that, as a result, Teen Mom's production team became afraid to work with David, and would ask not to go to their house.
An MTV spokesperson said at the time: "MTV ended its relationship with David Eason over a year ago in February 2018 and has not filmed any new episodes of Teen Mom 2 with him since."
“Additionally, we have stopped filming with Jenelle Eason as of April 6, 2019 and have no plans to cover her story in the upcoming season."
Jenelle admitted that she feels "lost" without her MTV job, and she doesn't know "what's next" in her life.
“It’s just hard to be part of something when people replace you," she said.
"You were the original one that helped start that show, and it’s hard to be let go of something that you’ve put so much work into.”
Jenelle has since set up an OnlyFans page and remains active on social media.
At the time, the reality star claimed she left him for good. However, she took David back after his release.
David was fired from Teen Mom 2 in 2018 after launching a "homophobic" X, formerly Twitter rant where he compared members of the LGBTQ+ community to dogs.
In October 2023, David was reportedly charged with child abuse in a case that involved her teenage son, Jace.
She captioned the post, "New Chapter Unlocked," alongside an unlocked padlock and sparkles emojis.

She added that under North Carolina law, she needed to do so before filing for divorce.
It's unclear whether her separation was the key to getting Evans back on MTV or whether the network will document her ongoing battles with Eason in the upcoming season of Teen Mom: Next Chapter.
