Fear The Walking Dead reveals first look at season six as show makes major filming switch
FEAR The Walking Dead has revealed the first look at season six as the show makes a major filming switch.
The AMC series will return for its sixth season in October, and fans have been given their first look at what they can expect.
Season five saw the group forced to separate by Virginia (Colby Minifie), scattered across far-reaching settlements controlled by Virginia's Pioneers.
First look pictures from season six sees a whole host of new pairings as the characters adjust to life under Pioneer rule.
Fans were also given a glimpse of Lennie James, who plays Morgan, however he was seen behind-the-camera rather than in front of it, meaning his fate still hangs in the balance as the only character to remain at Humbug's Gulch.
The characters new locations isn't the only change being made to season six, as the show adopts an anthology style approach to filming.
Executive producer Ian Goldberg recently explained the shift, saying: "We're going to have an anthology structure to the episodes, where we get to deep dive into exactly what these characters are going through within Virginia's communities, within the style of episodes we've done in the past that we've loved…
"You're going to see a lot more of that kind of storytelling in season six."
Executive producer and Walking Dead chief content officer Scott Gimple also revealed in January during a chat with Entertainment Weekly: "Structurally, the show is going to change quite a bit."
He continued: "There's going to be a great deal more focus within the stories, a little less vignette-y in telling 16 little movies.
"The guys are out of the gate wonderfully with the first two episodes, and it is a differentiating thing.
"It's something that separates that show from the other two shows [The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond], telling these 16 little movies, being a bit more anthological.
"It still is a serialized story, but it's told through these very focused perspectives."

Meanwhile showrunners Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg said of season six: "We're going to follow our characters on a very different journey — a far darker one — in Season 6.
"That required them to face not just an adversary who views the world in a way contrary to everything our heroes fought for [in Season 5], but also to find themselves in positions where their belief in the benevolent world they were fighting for will be challenged at every turn.
"The answer ultimately lied in having Virginia separate everyone, sending them to different corners of her apocalyptic domain."
Fear the Walking Dead returns on October 11 on AMC in the US, while AMC UK airs the show in the UK.
