Emmerdale star Karen Blick thanks the NHS after her young son breaks his leg in accident
EMMERDALE star Karen Blick has thanked NHS staff for helping her young son after he broke his leg.
The actress - who plays Lydia Dingle in the ITV soap - took to Twitter to pay tribute to the doctors and nurses who treated her youngest son Oliver in hospital after his accident.
He had fallen off his scooter and broke his leg in the accident.
She tweeted: “Big thank you to fab staff at @AiredaleNHSFT for looking after our youngest after he broke his leg falling off his scooter.
“Full pot on poor kid but he’s charging everyone £1 to sign it.”
She then joked: “I feel terrible but my history with kids is better than house plants…”
Karen also revealed that Oliver is “too small for crutches” so was given a frame to walk with instead.
The actress joined Emmerdale in 2016 as Lydia Hart, a woman with a secret who went on to marry Sam Dingle.
She starred in one of the soap’s first special lockdown episodes and recently opened up about filming in the new socially distanced wa.
“I think hugging people is another thing I will miss,” she said.
“My morning routine used to be coffee, then the chat in the corridors then into the relaxation of the lovely make up room.
“There are lots of procedures everyone now has to follow. It is being taken very seriously.”
Karen added: “It will still be a fun place to work with all the banter and smiling in the corridors, and we are going to make the best of it.
“We will be back and working, but staying safe.
“We were all so keen to get back filming, but we are mindful this is, of course, a serious situation in terms of health and safety and peoples well being, so that has been observed.”
It was announced today that the soap would be back up to six episodes per week by mid September after going down to three during the production shutdown.
