The Great British Bake Off 2020 begins filming at new Essex location
THE Great British Bake Off is rising in the East for its Channel 4 return later this year — as filming is now taking place in Essex.
The famous tents, where hopefuls are cooking for judges Paul Hollywood, 54, and Prue Leith, 80, in a brand new location.
It’s been a hive of activity for the past fortnight as the bakers take on a host of challenges in the eleventh series.
Previously filming has taken place in the grounds of Welford Park, Berks.
It isn’t the only change this year – an extra advert break will be added.
A source said: “The first three episodes will be 90 minutes, not 75, so they can include an extra ad break. Some think it’s a clever way to pull in cash as times have been tough.”
The series, which airs in September, sees Matt Lucas, 46, join as a host after Sandi Toksvig, 62, quit.
