The Secrets She Keeps viewers slam ‘let down’ finale – branding brutal shooting scenes ‘unrealistic’
VIEWERS have slammed the final episode of The Secrets She Keeps, describing it as a 'let down'.
They went on to brand its brutal shooting scenes as 'unrealistic'.
The six-part BBC drama follows Aggie - played by Laura Carmichael - who stalks a pregnant woman called Meghan (Jessica de Gouw) after briefly meeting in Aggie's place of work.
Viewers watch as Aggie fakes her own pregnancy before going on to disguise herself as a nurse and kidnap Meghan's baby from the hospital.
The series ended with a tense confrontation between Meghan and Aggie, who was armed with a gun.
With the baby in her arms and snipers ready to fire, Aggie pulls out a gun - only to point it at her own head.
As viewers hear the sound of a shot, the assumption is that the troubled Aggie took her own life.
But in following scenes we see the baby boy returned to his rightful mother and Aggie in prison with her injured arm where she was shot by police.
"Disappointing finale tbh #TheSecretsSheKeeps," said one fan.
"Tonight I finished watching #TheSecretsSheKeeps anyone else watched it?
I thought the ending was such a let down," said another.
One person pointed out: "That ending was… annoying. I’m not convinced a sniper would ever be trained to shoot an arm."
While a fourth added: "Finished #TheSecretsSheKeeps and the ending just let down the whole series".
On the similarity to the book - written about a real life event - the series is based on, one observer commented: "I was hoping the ending would be different to the book which I was not a fan of.
"The show did leave me wanting Aggie to escape in a 2nd season though lol."
The BBC is yet to reveal whether there will be a second series of The Secrets She Keeps.
But with Aggie still alive, the show ended in a way that could lend itself to sequel.
