American Horror Story confirms season 10 theme with terrifying first-look pic
AMERICAN Horror Story’s tenth instalment will take the franchise in a brand new direction.
The Ryan Murphy anthology series is known for switching up its theme every season, with the wildly different storylines ultimately existing in a shared universe.
The cast, headed up by new addition Macaulay Culkin, was announced earlier this month in a video taken along a shoreline.
This gave way to rumours that the upcoming theme would be ocean or beach-related.
Now it looks like the speculation was correct, according to Murphy’s latest Instagram post.
The producer took to Instagram to post the first promotional poster for season 10.
It sees a pair of hands clutching onto a cliff edge with a gloomy grey ocean stretching out behind them.
“Things are beginning to wash up on shore,” Murphy captioned the post to his 533k followers.
Suffice to say it didn’t take long for fans to chime in with their thoughts and predictions about the upcoming narrative.
“Hopefully some mermaids wash up on shore,” one user wrote.
“We need sirens,” a second chimed in, while a third asked: “Ghost ship?”
While a fourth speculated: “An island that the government used to do experiments on, but abandoned the creatures.”
Alongside Culkin, The likes of Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will both be back at the helm, after swerving last year's iteration 1984.
Other Season 10 cast members include the likes of Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross and Finn Wittrock.
The new image comes after a series of epic crossover theories.
Netflix's The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina appeared to give a nod to the series with a reference to one of its most famous witches.
Meanwhile a reference to a family from Scream Queens - another Ryan Murphy series - sparked a fresh shared universe debate.
Former seasons of American Horror Story is available to stream on NOW TV and Amazon Prime.
