Where is BBC’s World On Fire filmed? Set locations for the drama revealed

AFTER a long break, BBC One's hit drama World On Fire is set to return to screens for a second series.

The brand-new episodes will take viewers from the streets of Britain into occupied France, Nazi Germany, and to the sands of the North African desert during World War Two.

Where is World On Fire on BBC One filmed?

In July 2022, the BBC announced the return of the long-awaited second season of World of Fire.

Filming for the hit drama began that same year, with creator and writer Peter Bowker saying: "The second season of World On Fire has been a long wait due to a certain pandemic and this makes the beginning of filming especially exciting.

''It has been a real joy to pick up the story with our inspirational cast, both our established regulars and new and exciting talent who have embraced the show’s scale and ambition.

"How the conflict played out in North Africa is a fascinating and little-explored history and we are aiming to redress that balance with stories of struggle and friendship. Our diverse cast will continue to reflect the global nature of the conflict.”

At the time of the announcement, the BBC added: ''Filming on series two is currently underway in Northern Ireland.''

Season one of the series saw filming take place in both Prague and Manchester.

Adam Smith, director of the first two episodes of World on Fire season one, confirmed that the show was filmed largely in Prague in the Czech Republic and was a location used to recreate Paris, Berlin and Warsaw.

The rest of the filming was done in Manchester, with the Castlefield area turned into the backdrop for the World War Two drama.

When does World On Fire start on BBC One?

In June 2023, much to the delight of fans, the BBC released the first full trailer for series two - and announced the show's return date.

The BBC wrote: ''World on Fire series two comes to BBC One and BBC iPlayer from Sunday 16 July.''

The first series recently returned to BBC iPlayer where it can be in full ahead of series two.
