Legoland is opening a huge new water park in Italy’s Gardaland Resort

LEGOLAND might be better known for its family-friendly theme parks around the world but now it's set to bring its water parks to Europe for the first time.

The new attraction will be housed inside Italy's Gardaland Resort, and it's scheduled to make its debut in 2020.

According to CEO Aldo Maria Vigevani, the new attraction will be "the first in the world inside a theme Park not Legoland branded".

But like Legoland's other parks, this water park will be aimed at families, specifically those with kids aged between two and 12.

At present, the resorts haven't released details of what new rides will be at the new Legoland water park.

They have, however, released the first promotion picture of the attraction.

And it looks like the classic Joker Soaker and Build-a-Raft River rides will both make their debut in Italy - both rides are in Legoland's other water parks.

Gardaland itself is one of the most popular theme parks in Europe, with the only themed aquarium in Italy and a Peppa Pig land.

It's located on the edge of Lake Garda and the theme is all about "fantasy, adventure and magic".

Guests can stay at the three themed hotels on site, Gardaland Hotel, Adventure Hotel and the brand-new Magic Hotel.

At the moment, tickets to Gardaland Park starts from €39 (£35), while tickets to Gardaland Park and the Gardaland Sea Life Aquarium starts from €45 (£40), but it's not known whether guests will have to pay extra to visit the water park once it opens.
