Families demand end to school holiday rip-offs as trips cost £1,000 more than during term time
FURIOUS families are demanding an end to school holiday price hikes as they are currently paying up to £1,000 more for trips out of term time.
Analysis showed family holidays can cost up to an eye-watering 124 per cent more when school's out.
Research by the showed a family of two adults and two kids aged 11 and seven will pay £1,398 for a self-catering holiday to Marmaris, Turkey, flying from Gatwick on July 9 for two weeks.
By comparison, the same flat at Club Anastasia in the same place from the same airport with the same holiday company Thomas Cook costs a staggering £2,526 when flying out on August 6.
That's a rise of 124 per cent.
And a family of four going for a two week self-catering trip to Zante in Greece would be tempted to take the holiday during term time as a fortnight at Alykes Garden Village costs £2,224.20 from July 11-25 compared with £3,093.60 from August 15-29 when flying from Liverpool John Lennon Airport with Tui.

A spokesperson for industry body ABTA said: "If school holiday dates were staggered, this would help to alleviate sharp peaks and spread demand over a longer period of time."
And a Thomas Cook spokesperson added: "We have suggested and are supportive of staggered school holiday dates by region to help reduce the pressures of peak holiday demand."
And single parents' group Gingerbread pointed out that single parents were doubly affected by price hikes as family deals usually only apply to families with two adults with kids.
