KING’S LANDING: Dubrovnik, Croatia

DUBROVNIK is used as the capital of Westeros, with plenty of instantly familiar locations in the walled Old Town, from St Dominika Street – used for market scenes – to Minceta Tower, the city’s highest point, as well as Fort Lovrijenac, alias the Red Keep.

THIS Adriatic gem is the setting for Braavos, one of the most powerful of the Free Cities to the east of Westeros.

ROYAL PALACE OF DORNE: Real Alcazar Palace, Seville, Spain

LONG BRIDGE OF VOLANTIS: The Roman Bridge, Cordoba, Spain

USED when Tyrion Lannister and Varys head through Long Bridge, which spans the mouth of the Rhoyne River.

MEEREEN: Klis Fortress, Croatia

STUNNING Klis was the setting when Daenerys overthrew the largest of the three great slaver cities, Meereen.
In real life, the castle is not far from the tourist paradise of Split. You can hike to see where Khaleesi nailed the city’s ex-rulers to crosses at the top.

ROAD FROM KING’S LANDING: Dark Hedges, N Ireland

THE Moroccan village, high in the Atlas mountains, is used for Daenery’s storyline in Pentos and Yunkai in the early seasons of the show.
It’s not its only film role – the village, on the edge of the Sahara desert, also featured in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator.
