Marvel Season of Super Heroes at Disneyland Paris is mindblowing for kids and adults
From explosions, pyrotechnics, slick fight choreography and interaction of the iconic figures - the spectacular show puts the audience at the heart of a thrilling mission
THERE’S only one thing more exciting than Disneyland Paris – the joy on your kid’s face when you tell them they’re going.
And news that we’d be visiting during Marvel Season of Super Heroes sent my seven-year-old Noah wild.
Super-hero obsessed, he couldn’t wait to come face to face with all his favourite Avengers.
Following a hassle-free Eurostar trip from St Pancras that delivered us straight into Disneyland Paris within three hours, we kicked off our action-packed Marvel afternoon with the Stark Expo show in the Disney Studio courtyard.
Explosions, pyrotechnics, clever effects and slick fight choreography had the crowd enthralled.
One moment Spider-Man is on the studio rooftop, the next he is centre stage helping Black Widow and Thor in their battle against Loki and the Red Skull to protect Tony Stark’s powerful “Arc Reactor”.
Next up, the spectacular 20-minute stage show Marvel: Super Heroes United, was mindblowing.
With enhanced special effects, it brings together iconic figures from the Marvel Universe, including Thor, Iron Man, Black Widow, Doctor Strange, Black Panther and Spider-Man all on one stage.
What starts as an innocuous cinema screen quickly expands all around you, putting the audience at the heart of this thrilling mission.
The stage opened up, the walls came alive around the audience, and when Bruce Banner finally “Hulked out” Noah leapt out of his seat in excitement.
Afterwards, saving the planet with crowd-powered hip- shaking to the films’ iconic soundtracks proved great fun in The Guardians of the Galaxy’s Awesome Dance-off.
At one point Noah was even up on stage, flexing his air guitar with Groot.
It was so out of character and afterwards Noah confessed: “I just couldn’t help myself and wanted to be up there with them so much.”
Of course it wouldn’t be the Disney experience without great merchandise.
Black Panther claws and cuddly baby Groots were Noah’s pick, but there was a lot of choice to whittle down from — the Captain Marvel clothing line is particularly cool.
Even the food has been “Marvelled” — Groot-shaped shortbread cookies, Baby Groot chocolate mousse, or a waffle adorned with Captain Marvel’s logo.
We got a couple of huge Spider-Man doughnuts and I felt pretty superhuman just by finishing mine.
To cap off our Marvel afternoon we got our chance to meet the web-slinger himself.
As we lined up, Noah was full of questions. But when the moment came, inevitably he was awestruck and silent.
But Spidey’s a pro and as quick as a Thanos finger snap had him posing and chatting away.
These heroes sure didn’t disappoint.
The Star Tours attraction is also a must and with 60 variations you’d be hard pushed to experience the same ride twice (we went three times and enjoyed three completely different adventures).
There are 59 attractions across the park and we made sure to blitz as many as we could — with the Ratatouille ride our favourite.
A tip — download the Disneyland Paris App. Not only does it serve as a GPS map showing you where everything is in relation to you, it also gives you live queue times.
Later, we took in the spellbinding 20-minute Disney Illuminations night-time spectacular show. The perfect end to our day.
And Disney isn’t resting on its laurels when it comes to the Paris resort, with Walt Disney Studios Park set to get three new areas based on Marvel, Frozen and Star Wars, along with new attractions and live entertainment.

And Disney’s Hotel New York, also at the French resort, is being transformed to showcase the thrilling world of Marvel Super Heroes.
We were staying at the resort’s impressive Newport Hotel. Once back home, we were exhausted — with Baby Groots and Stitch cuddly toys taking pride of place on Noah’s bed.
Proof that even after 64 years, The House of Mouse is still magical for today’s kids . . . and grown-ups.
