Picture of a lion with its cub, taken by Sonalini Khetrapal in Masai Mara, Kenya. She said: 'We were lucky to find new born lion cubs in the plains of Masai Mara, Kenya. The mother is extremely protective of the cub and was often seen hiding them behind the bush and away from predators. In this instance, as the cub unknowingly walked very close to the side of a cliff, the mother lioness quickly tried to grab it from its head to protect it from falling over. It looks dangerous, but it is an endearing way for the lioness to pick up the cub and place it back to safety' Credit: Sonalini Khetrapal 10
Gentoo being chased by a fur seal by Clive Beavis. He said: 'This image was captured on a recent visit to Antarctica. I had this shot in mind, though no idea how I would get it. I had seen a similar photo in a Nat Geo publication. Lucky for me, a young southern fur seal decided to chase a group of Gentoos—right towards our Zodiac. It even has its mouth wide open to add to the drama. Right place, right time for this shot. :)' Credit: Clive Beavis 10
Abhishek Sabbarwal captured a slackliner in Yosemite National Park in California. He said: 'This was my first ever hike to taft point in Yosemite National Park. I had seen so many beautiful pictures of this location before. After reaching the point, I saw these slackliners. It was amazing to watch these guys over the high cliffs. The setting sun made it even more awesome with its rays beaming through the valley. What a sight! Felt really lucky to be at the right place at the right time' Credit: Abhishek Sabbarwal 10
Damilice Mansur captured this picture of a pelican in Lake Kerkini, Greece. The photographer said: 'I got up close and personal with the globally threatened Dalmatian Pelicans. A lemur is caught peering from behind a tree in this photo taken by Anuroop Krishnan who said: 'While lemurs are endemic to the island of Madagascar, even within the island there are diverse habitats which are home to a number of species of lemurs. The red-fronted brown lemur is found in south western part of the island, in its dry lowland forests. It feeds mostly on fruits, leaves, and flowers—often leaving the comfort of the trees in search of seeds' Credit: ANUROOP KRISHNAN / 2019 NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC TRAVEL PHOTO CONTEST 10
Picture by Rita Kluge. She said: 'On my last day in Antarctica, I was posting my last video update, I heard what I was waiting for and documented what was to come. A leopard seal was feeding on a penguin … I was in a 7mm free-diving suit to be more flexible to change positions quickly. A normal encounter would be 20 minutes or so and I wouldn't be too cold afterwards, but this day was different, as we swam with three different leopard seals—brrrr. I felt safe being so close to the action with my team. Just amazing' Credit: Rita Kluge 10
Enrico Pescantini captured this amazing shot in Petra, Jordan. He said of the image: 'Petra is a 2,000-year-old city, carved in the rocks of Jordan—once a gateway on the Silk Road and now one of the seven wonders of the world. The best experience is to walk the canyon that leads to the pink city in the night—just like ancient traders and merchants. From the dark, the Treasury is seen lit by hundreds of candles. This is as close as you can get to time travel and a truly an unforgettable lifetime experience' Credit: Enrico Pescantini 10

This picture was taken by Marc Woo, who said: 'I was at the top deck of Skytree around noon—when I looked outside, I noticed the shadow of Skytree and the street intersecting like hands on a clock face.
