Discover super grub and comfortable suites at the Amano restaurant and hotel in West Malling, Kent
COMBINE the experiences of going out for a meal and booking a trip away by deciding to do both.
WHAT’S IT LIKE? Located in the small market town of West Malling, you’ll find a Grade II-listed building, home to Amano, a restaurant with rooms.
ROOMS ANY GOOD? There are four “boudoirs”, each designed with relaxing in mind. Think neutral greys, lots of white and cushions galore.
The rooms aren’t huge but the beds are, which is the most important thing.
There are lots of little extras, too: Decent tea and coffee, a robe and slippers and posh toiletries.
EAT HERE OR GRAB A PIZZA? Foodies are in for a treat. Owners Nick Levantis and Darryl Healy are passionate about food, and head chef Fabio Moschini makes fresh pasta each morning. If you stay during the week, you can have breakfast in your room.
Weekend visitors will have their first meal of the day in the Orangery. Choose from smashed avocado on focaccia, frittata with spinach or the Amano breakfast: Focaccia, Italian sausage and pancetta.
For lunch and dinner, I could have eaten everything on the menu, twice. But settled on rosemary and Siciliansalt pizza bread followed by calamari and spaghetti with clams.
