Ryanair voted UK’s worst airline sixth year in a row – but the carrier says its prices mean demand has never been higher

RYANAIR has been voted the worst airline in the UK for the sixth year running by Which? members.
But despite receiving the lowest possible ratings for boarding, seat comfort, food and drink, and cabin environment, the airline says that demand for its services "has never been higher".
In September and October last year, 7,901 Which? members completed the annual short-haul airline survey.
The results revealed that 70 per cent of respondents would never travel with Ryanair, "even if it was cheaper than its rivals".
Which? Travel cited several incidents in 2018 that contributed towards the airline receiving only 40 per cent overall customer score.
It included scores of cancelled flights and the airline's refusal to pay its customers compensation.
Ryanair's complicated cabin policy - which changed three times in the year - was another factor.
However, the airline remains unfazed by the results of the survey.
A Ryanair spokesperson told Sun Online Travel: "This Which? Survey omits price, which is the single most important factor for UK consumers when it comes to airline choice.
"Throughout 2018 Ryanair.com was the most visited airline website in the UK so demand from UK consumers to book and fly with Ryanair has never been higher.
"The survey of almost 8,000 Which? members is totally unrepresentative and worthless compared to Ryanair’s 141m customers and given that Ryanair is Europe’s No. 1 airline with the lowest fares, with an average fare of just €39, a fraction of the high fares charged by Which’s ‘recommended’ airlines."
They added: "This year Ryanair will carry 141m customers, a 78% increase over the 79m we carried six years ago, so these irrelevant ratings don’t reflect real passenger choices, which is the only survey which matters."

Thomas Cook Airlines and Wizz Air were also at the bottom of the rankings in the Which? survey, with overall scores of 52 per cent and 54 per cent respectively.
British Airways made an improvement on last year's score of 52 per cent to a slightly higher 56 per cent.
EasyJet received an overall score of 63 per cent but was rated better for customer service than both Ryanair and British Airways.
However, it was Jet2 that received the highest overall score with 75 per cent.
