Ryanair’s website crashed yesterday – leaving passengers unable to check-in for flights online
Customers were unable to check in for flights, which means they couldn't print their boarding passes off before flying
The Ryanair website was “down for maintenance” yesterday – meaning passengers were unable to check-in online.
A message on the airline’s website initially incorrectly read “due to an upgrade, our website and app is down from 6.30pm Wed until 4:00am Thursday November 8."
It continued: “Apologies to all customers but we will be back shortly.”
But passengers were quick to point out that yesterday was November 13 and the airline had got the date wrong.
Twitter user Mrhawky wrote shared a photo of his screen with the caption: “Correct me if I’m wrong but today is Tuesday 13th November… so what’s happening?? I need to check-in.”
He isn’t the only passenger to complain about the website being down.
Twitter user downgerd wrote: “Your website is shut down TODAY TUESDAY !!!!!!! Can't access it to book flights.”
Another called Emily Wildsmith added: “It would be helpful if you could stop doing site maintenance so we can actually book onto flights. Thanks! :)”.
User Alipcat said: “Your website and app isn't working, and before you tell me to try a different browser or to clear the cache, I've tried all that on different browsers and phones without success.”
The airline had been replying to people on its Twitter feed telling them to clear their cookies and try again, but customers complained this didn't work.
Ryanair charges a £55 fee for passengers to check in at the airport if they haven't done it online.
The airline told Sun Online Travel: "No customers were charged for check-in as the outage was brief and rectified quickly."

As well as being unable to check-in to flights, customers also couldn't purchase tickets or adjust bookings online either.
We previously revealed that the airline offers a private jet experience for £4,417 an hour - but that it still charges extra for food, much like a normal Ryanair flight.
The airline’s Gold dining package includes “complimentary” alcoholic drinks, “delicious hot dishes” and fresh fruit and snacks at your seat from €45 (£39) per passenger.
