Why Disneyland has ditched chairs – making parks more uncomfortable for kids and OAPs to visit

Visitors aren't happy about the changes, which are meant to ease congestion and make the parks less crowded

DISNEYLAND has introduced a change to its parks that’s making life very uncomfortable for visitors.

The park is removing much of its seating to make the parks less congested.

The reports that this is being done due to overcrowding.

Plant pots with wide edges were handy spots that people could sit down and relax on, but these have now been removed around New Orleans Square and replaced with concrete pavements.

The ledges have also been removed by the Peoplemover ride in Tomorrowland.

Even bigger crowds are being anticipated when the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge park opens next summer.

Disneyland visitor Debbie Sinclair said: “It’s getting harder and harder to sit down in the shade and relax.

“I’m really bummed about it, because I have bad knees and ankles.”

Twitter user @lbredbone said: “WHY??? To get more people into your already overcrowded parks. What about seniors, disabled and small children that need to rest.”

User Michelle Edwards said: “To me this means they are no longer following Walt’s dream. (A lot of things leading up to this have, however I have held out hope and denied it) I would rather go to Walt Disney world anyway. More cool stuff to do.”

Disneyland officials have announced that the seating that has been removed will eventually be replaced – for example, the Bengal BBQ restaurant will be expanded from 36 outdoor seats to 100 inside seats.

However, this seating is for guests who have paid for food or drink – not just for people who want to have a casual sit down at their will.

A Disney spokesperson said: “We continually strive to deliver a great guest experience, and we are always looking at ways to enhance elements such as guest flow, seating, and landscaping, which play an important part of a guest’s visit to the parks”
