STRUGGLING for ideas for your next holiday? We check in and check out the best hotels on offer for a quick break.
Here's the lowdown on the Sandman Signature Hotel, near Gatwick.
WHAT’S IT LIKE? Airport hotels are always a treat to take the strain out of flying – but doubly so here after a recent multi-million pound refurb.
The 151 rooms, dining, pool, steam room, gym, function rooms and stylish decor are all new – and there is no-nonsense pricing for stays and parking.
ROOMS ANY GOOD? Spick-and-span slumber heaven, including en suite, flat-screen LCD, free wifi, tea and coffee, 24-hour room service and wake-up calls.
There are doubles, twins or family rooms with either two doubles or double and bunks.
EAT THERE OR GRAB A PIZZA? All-you-can-chomp brekkie, hot and cold, is £10 for adults, £5 under-16s. Lunch and dinner are also good.
Mains are from £10 – and you can eat in the Shark Club Gastro Bar, with big-screen TVs for sports fans, or more formal Shark Grill.
WHAT ELSE? The pool, steam room and gym are great for working off jet lag.
Cineworld is under a mile away or it is short drives to the South Downs and Brighton, Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures.
SO YOU’D GO BACK? Our two kids are already clamouring – they loved the glam add-on to our summer holiday to Turkey.
WHAT’S THE DAMAGE? Park-and-fly packages are from £89 for four days’ parking, £109 for eight days and £134 for 15 days, including one night’s room, and free taxi to and from the airport.
