Man live tweets battle to get rude “white privilege” woman on plane to move feet from tray table on United Airlines flight
Frederick Joseph revealed that the female passenger was offered a $1000 (£716) flight voucher in compensation for putting her foot down
PLANES are cramped places at the best of times – which can be made even worse if the person next to you is misbehaving.
One man live tweeted his battle with a rude passenger who had taken her shoes off – and put her feet up on the tray table next to him.
Frederick Joseph was on a United Airlines flight when he tweeted about the “white privilege” woman next to him – and how little help he got from cabin crew on the plane.
He wrote: “The audacity of white privilege… This woman next to me took her shoes off and placed both feet on the table, so I’m waiting for flight staff to say something...
“So flight staff walk by numerous times without saying anything, and I’m irate, because no black person would ever get away with this sh*t.
“So I start looking at the staff noting that there is an issue. You know, giving them the snitch eye...”
Frederick tweeted that the woman’s feet were next to his food, but that she refused to move them and instead blamed the cramped plane for having to have them up on the tray table.
He continued: “So I’m like 'I understand, which is why there is room for your feet and legs under the seat in front of you?'
“So she says 'This is why I fly first class, and I don’t come back here with everyone else.'
“So I’m like 'That’s great, so are you going to put your feet down?'"
According to Frederick, after he brought up the topic with the woman, she called over the flight attendant immediately.
He said: “She says to the flight attendant 'this man is disrupting my flight, I’m just trying to be comfortable'.”
“So I point at her feet and explain my stance.”
He then claims that the flight attendant asked the woman to put one foot down – and then offered the woman a $1000 dollar flight voucher to compensate her for having to move her foot.
The man was so outraged that he called customer service as soon as he got off the flight to discuss what had happened.
He says that he spoke to a Hispanic woman on the phone – who attempted to reassure him by saying that the woman had not received the compensation in the end after all.
He claims she also told him that the incident couldn’t be “anything to do with race or culture”.
Frederick signed his tweets off declaring that he was “moving on from the situation” – but maintains his opinion that the woman received preferential treatment due to her race.
