Where is the Rejuvenation Clinic in Sardinia? Health retreat in Arbatax featured in 100 Years Younger in 21 Days

THE ageing process is something we all have to go through with countless products, treatments and rituals promising to reverse the ravages of time.

In an experiment to see if they could turn back the clock, eight older celebrities were whisked off to Sardinia for new four-part ITV show 100 Years Younger in 21 Days.

Where is it the Rejuvenation Clinic?

The eight participants were flown to the ‘The Rejuvenation Clinic’ on the eastern coast of Sardinia, a stunning Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea.

It is located in the town of Arbatax, which lies right on the coast of the idyllic island.

Off Italy’s eastern coast, the 24,000 square mile island has a population of around 1.6 million people.

The eight familiar faces were treated to sun-drenched scenery with breathtaking countryside and coastlines.

It was chosen as the location for the programme as the locals are among the healthiest in the world, and twice as likely to see their 100th birthday than Brits.

The island is also designated a blue zone, which means it’s home to some of the healthiest people in the world who live the longest.

Other than Sardinia, Okinawa, Japan, Nicoya, Costa Rica, Ikaria, Greece, and Loma Linda, California are all blue zones – but Sardinia was the first to be identified.

Who are the celebs?

Taking up the challenge is soap legend June Brown, aka Dot Cotton from Eastenders, presenter Roy Walker, fellow Eastenders actor Sid Owen and musician Shaun Ryder.

Finishing the line-up is actress and presenter Sherrie Hewson, astrologer Russell Grant, actress Claire King and TV personality and former Gogglebox star Sandra Martin.

Sid Owen is the youngest at 45, and June Brown the oldest at 91.

The docu-series is narrated by Stephen Fry, and has a team of experts carefully designing the treatments and monitoring the results.

What are the treatments?

During their 21-day regime, the eight celebs must adhere to a strict diet and exercise routine.

Each one will have a plan tailored to their individual needs in an attempt to shave decades off their body, inside and out.

But there’s a blanket ban on smoking, drinking alcohol, sugar, bread, pasta and all starchy foods.

As well as a strict diet the celebs are put through their paces during the three-week intensive rejuvenation.

Some of the bizarre treatments they have been subjected to include a snail facial – letting live snails crawl across your face.

We all normally need a coffee in the morning, but the celebs were treated to a coffee enema.

And one of the therapies includes urea, found in urine, which is revealed as a wonder anti-ageing ingredient.

The celebs were given cow urine shampoo to use in a bid to turn back the clock, as well as making a facial using their own urine.

At the end of the show the experts hope to have shaved off a century in looks from all the contestants combined - without going under the knife.
