A GOLDEN skyscraper with 75 floors has helped Dubai snatch the record for the world's tallest hotel - from itself.

The jaw-dropping tower - which guests enter through revolving doors coated in solid gold - is seven times taller than Nelson's column, and one more than the 355m JW Marriott nearby.
And it's exactly 50 metres taller than London's Shard, which clocks in at a comparatively puny 306m.
Guests are expected to start filling the 528 opulent rooms after a lavish opening ceremony on Monday evening.
The eye-watering room fees give guests access to one of the hotel's four state-of-the-art health clubs - and two luxury restaurants.

Dubai is also home to the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, which stretches over half a mile into the desert sky.
