GOING on holiday doesn't have to be pricey - it can actually be cheaper to go away to some destinations that staying in the UK.
It costs less to book a two-night getaway to places like Sofia and Berlin – including flights and accommodation – than it would to cover the price of food and entertainment in London.
A survey by looked at the cost of travel to 20 popular destinations, and also included the price of food, drink, entertainment and accommodation when you’re there.
The analysis used data from 1.2million travellers aged 16 to 30 when they were on holiday.
The Bulgarian capital, Sofia, came out as the cheapest place for a weekend in Europe, costing just £122.45 per person for the weekend.
And close behind comes Prague at £188.57 for an entire weekend.
In comparison, a weekend of entertainment in London will set you back £293.08.
That’s £170.63 more than a weekend in Sofia – think of everything you could get up to there with all that extra spending money.

Sofia
The cheapest place to head for a mini-break on the list is packed with things to do.
You can visit the National Assembly Square and the Saint Sofia statue if you want to tick a few sights off your list.
There are churches everywhere you turn in his historic city, which dates back to Roman times, and it's also close to ski reports at Mount Vitosha if you fancy a change of scenery.

The Czech capital of Prague is chocolate box-pretty - and definitely Instagram-friendly.
The city is full of pubs and bars, as beer is a big deal here - you can even bathe in the stuff in the city's spas.
