Brit travellers complete challenge to drink three beers in three countries in 56 minutes – and it STILL costs less than two rounds in London
The three friends necked booze after crossing the borders of Brazil, Colombia and Peru in under an hour
THREE Brits have managed to down a beer in three South American countries in just 56 minutes – by travelling into Peru, Brazil and Colombia on motorbikes, a speed boat and tuk-tuks.
Amazingly the cross-country crawl set them back just £25 - roughly the same price as five pints in the capital.
Travellers Calum Foskett, 27, Jed Gibbs, 27 and Joe Oliver, 29, all from Bedfordshire, decided to take on the 10-mile booze blitz after their flights were delayed.
They crossed the Amazon twice on a leaky boat and raced along dirt roads on motorbikes to quench their thirst in Peru, Brazil and Colombia.
Locals think they may be the first to take on the unusual challenge, which stunned bartenders.
The stunt took place by the Amazon river in the remote tri-border region, where the three countries meet and there are open borders.
Their first cold beer was downed after just 29 minutes, with the second enjoyed at 41 minutes and the hat trick completed inside the hour after 56 minutes.
The men hope their fast-fire drinking challenge might catch on with other intrepid travellers in the future.
Speaking from Colombia, law student Jed said: “It started off as a joke in a bar and then we realised no one had ever tried it before, and then we had a problem with our flights and were stuck for over a week.
“While working out how to spend our time we were looking at a map and realised it could be possible to visit all three countries within an hour."
He continued: "We tried to make it as challenging as possible by adding two extra rules.
"We had to finish where we started making sure it was a full loop and each beer had to be served to us rather than bought in a shop.
"It was tough going and I thought we weren't going to make it at some points - it was like something from The Crystal Maze.”
He added: “The motorbike taxis are a bit scary - they don't hang around.
"And from Peru to Brazil we appeared to have a leak, but luckily we stayed above water.
"Although it looks like fun it wasn't just going out on the lash, it was tiring as well - we spent the rest of the day laying in hammocks."
The pals started off in Leticia, Colombia before journeying to Santa Rosa, in Peru in a tuk-tuk.
They then rushed back to the port and crossed the Amazon by boat again before drinking a can of Schol in Tapatinga, Brazil.

After their second bevvy, they then hopped on the back of motorbikes to cross the border back into Colombia and ran to the bar in Leticia to beat the clock.
The pals are hoping they’ve set a record.
They are in South America as part of a three-month adventure and will return home in January.
