A  railway company has unveiled plans for a passenger train which comes with noise-cancelling seats, digital personal trainers and exercise bikes.

The Ideenzug - or Idea Train - has been in the pipeline for years and is still in the development stage - but the plans were unveiled to the public in Nuremberg last week.

But once complete, it will offer German commuters and travellers the ultimate train ride - and could influence rail travel around the world.

, the masterminds behind the project, have considered every type of traveller, from fitness fanatics to those who suffer from motion sickness.

Want to travel facing forwards but can't find a seat? The Idea Train will feature swivelling seats allowing passengers to face whichever way they want.

Fancy burning off some extra calories while travelling cross country? Sports cabins will feature digital personal trainers and exercise bikes.

And for those who just want to zone out and avoid making eye contact, special design features like glass panes separating passengers will mean that some seats will be "noise-cancelling".

If all else fails, privacy pods will be available.

Much to the relief of any travelling parents, there will also be a playroom for children, with a selection of games consoles and TVs available.

For anyone feeling peckish, there will also be kitchenettes for travellers to heat up their grub or make a cup of tea.

The project, which is in partnership with Germany's Southeast Bavarian Railway, will be in direct competition with the new A94 motorway running between Munich and Simbach am Inn from 2019.

Jörg Sandvoss, CEO of Deutsche Bahn Regio told the International Railway Journal: “When developing such concepts, it is not about implementing a train with all the creative ideas at once, but rather taking individual approaches into consideration for new trains”.
