The seemingly bored group of men ignored the Italian city's stunning architecture as they struggled to to look away from their smartphones

WHEN planning a trip to Venice, most people's dream itineraries are likely to include a romantic gondola ride through the city's famous canals.

But one group of tourists weren't interested in taking in the Italian city's beauty and history, instead barely looking up from their smartphones.

A video of a group of phone-addict tourists on a gondola ride in Venice has gone viral

Filmed by their frustrated gondolier, the four men appear less than impressed by the city's stunning architecture - which they hardly give a second glance.

The guide posted the video on Facebook, and it has since gone viral as thousands struggle to comprehend the group's disinterest in what is arguably one of the world's most beautiful cities.

He sarcastically commented: "A fantastic ride. The customers are very happy, they're enjoying the beauty of the city, they appreciate it a lot.

"They've taken lots of photos, made comments and said they will soon return to this wonderful city."

It's unlikely the men's canal trip came cheap either, as a 40-minute gondola ride will set you back just over £70, or £89 after 7pm.

Every year, 20 million people visit the Italian city, which was also the film location for the 1973 British-Italian thriller Don't Look Now.
