There’s an old shipwreck off the coast of Romania that tourists can explore by kayak

ROMANIAN beach holidays are getting increasingly popular with Brits, mainly down to the great deals on accommodation, food and drink.
But the Black sea also has many other draws for adventurous tourists – where else for instance can you explore a shipwreck by kayak?
The Evangelina is a huge shipwrecked cargo ship near Costinesti on the Black Sea that was wrecked in 1968.
The ship is now a big attraction for tourists, with several speedboat and banana boat companies offering trips to see it.
But one of the best ways to visit the ship is by sea kayak.
After running aground more almost 50 years ago, most of the boat still remains above water, making it easy to explore.
The kayak is slim enough to reach the more awkward parts, which means that you can paddle through some of the old corridors of the boat.
If you’re not much of a diver then this is one of the best chances you’ll get to explore a real shipwreck.
The ship was first built in 1942 in Northern Ireland for the UK’s Ministry Of War Transport.
The ship changed hand three times until it ran aground in 1968, with rumours circulating at the time that the accident may have been part of an insurance fraud.

The wreck has remained a big tourist attraction for the small Romanian beach town of Costinesti.
The resort is popular with young tourists, and several hotels in the area rent rooms out for as little as £100 a week.
