Hotels across the UK now do room service for dogs… with steak tartare and sushi on the menu

The dishes on the dog menu at Mercure Hotels are so fancy that they could even be eaten by humans

BRITAIN is a nation of dog lovers – with around 8.5 million of the four legged friends kept as pets.

In some corners of the country, canines are loved so much that they’re treated even better than humans.

Mercure Hotels has launched a new room service for dogs – and the food on offer sounds better than what a human guest would usually get.

For just £7.50, pets can choose to have steak tartare, salmon sashimi or a roast chicken dinner delivered to their rooms.

The hotel collection has introduced the Happy Tails package, masterminded by Head Pet Nutritionist at AniForte, Katrin Scholz, at selected hotels within their group - guests just need to ring in advance to checkif their chosen venue provides the service,

Katrin said: “I have created raw and cooked options so every dog owner can choose something they know their dog can digest well.

“The menus are fresh, healthy and human food grade so this special holiday dinner is a real treat but full of carefully considered nutrition as well."

The dog food menu even comes with “tasting notes”, which tell pet owners the health benefits of each meal.

For instance, the steak tartare, which comes with seasonal fruits and vegetables and a herb dressing is grain free.

According to Karin, a grain free diet with help with the dog’s digestion and avoid gluten allergies and intolerances.

Alternatively, the dog could opt for a salmon sashimi dish with mashed banana and fresh herbs.

As the salmon contains Omega 3, the meal will “Promote strong bones, prevent hair loss, boost metabolism and stimulate growth.”

Any dog owners hoping to treat their pet to the ultimate hotel dining experience will have to be quick though, as the menu is only on offer until the end of October.
