A WELSH beach has beaten parks, mountains and other countryside beauty spots to be voted the UK's favourite place for a picnic.
Three Cliffs Bay on the Gower Peninsula topped a poll of the best places to visit with a hamper of sandwiches and snacks.
The large sandy beach has views of the Bristol channel and is a popular beauty spot for walkers, swimmers and adventurous climbers who scramble up the cliffs.
The Welsh beach topped the survey of 2,000 parents asking their favourite picnic spots were.
The stretch of sand narrowly beat Padley Gorge in the Peak District - a deep valley that has been described as "one of the most mystical and magical places in the Peak District."
The top ten also included London's Richmond Park - a 2,500 acre-site park that was created by Charles I in the 1600s as a deer park.
Kyoto Gardens in Holland Park was the only other London spot to make the list.
The Japanese style gardens were donated by the Chamber Of Commerce in Kyoto in 1991 and it features a koi carp pond, a rock waterfall and a Japanese bridge.

10. Dolbadarn Castle, Snowdonia
Dolbadarn Castle, a 13th century castle built by Welsh prince Llywelyn the Great in Snowdonia also made the list.
The castle has incredible views of Llyn Padarn lake at the foot of Mount Snowdon.

The poll also discovered more than a third of British families are willing to drive for more than an hour to discover the perfect picnic spot.
Chiara Cipriani, of DisneyLife who commissioned the survey, said: "We hope this list of perfect picnic spots will encourage families to go on an adventure."
