Disney has unveiled a preview of their Star Wars Land theme park and fans just want it to be 2019 already
Theme park bosses have built a 50-foot model of the two upcoming Star Wars lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World
THE school holidays are nearing, but all hardcore Disney fans are interested in is what's going to happen in the summer of 2019.
Because theme park bosses have released their first detailed look at the two upcoming Star Wars-inspired lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, which are rumoured to have cost $1 billion (£769 million) each to build.
The team have shared new details about the new 14-acre sites in both Florida and California, which will feature themed shops and restaurants, as well as two main attractions.
The can all be seen in a 50-foot scale model of the parks, which was previewed at the D23 Expo - a Disney fan convention - last weekend.
The mini theme parks, which are currently under construction and set to open in 2019, will transport guests to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life.
The remote trading port, a collaboration between Disney and Star Wars, is a mysterious destination somewhere on the Outer Rim — lying on the edge of the Unknown Regions.
The village was once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes, but the prominence of the outpost has been bypassed with the rise of hyperspace travel.
Now home to those who prefer less attention, it has become a thriving port for smugglers, rogue traders and adventurers travelling between the frontier and uncharted space.
It’s also a convenient safe-haven for others intent on avoiding the expanding reach of the First Order.
Unusual characters from across the galaxy have landed here, preferring the “no questions asked” environment, as well as easy access to exotic supplies and an abundant supply of ready rogues looking to join a crew for their next adventure.
Here, guests will find themselves in the middle of the action at two signature attractions, one of which lets guests take the controls of Millennium Falcon on a customised secret mission.
The second focuses on an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
One Disney fan called Brian said: "Wow, 2019 can’t get here soon enough."
Another fan called Dave added: "It’s going to be a LONG 2 years waiting for the new lands to open in 2019."
